The Secret Garden of the Heart
I've always thought this has a sense of the Renaissance about it. Maybe I'm re-imagining the soundtrack to a Romeo and Juliet film.
The Secret Garden of the Heart
The secret garden of the heart is winter-grown
When a love is lost or long unknown
But found again the winter turns to spring
The heart grows green
And sings with love like a lark upon the wing

And in my secret garden
I remember tenderness
And it keeps my heart from withering with
Cold and bitterness
With cold and bitterness

Love can make a poor man's burden light
Or princes to forget their people's plight
Can drive to madness or melt hearts of stone
With summers of delight
Or with wintry blast destroy all you have grown

But in my secret garden

If the grief of love is more than you can bear
The sadness in your heart beyond despair
Time might heal the brokenness and pain
And some will counsel prayer,
But it's love's the thing that will make you live again

And in my secret garden
