Marrying the Expulsion from Eden story in Genesis with the Parable of the Prodigal Son. We dream of returning to the Garden.
Dreams of Eden
Children of God, He made us, life breathed into dry dust,
Given hearts and minds and the love of God most high.
Why then reject His goodness?
Exiled and in loneliness
We seek new gods, though none will satisfy.
Fools for Satan in disguise,
Faithlessness and sinful lies
Locked us out of Paradise,
But still we dreamed of Eden.
We have lost the Promised Land;
Turned our backs on what God planned,
Built our lives on shifting sand
But still we dreamed of Eden.
Children of God, we've long known we should take the road home
To the Father's house, though sin has left us with scars.
But from afar He sees us, runs with joy to meet us,
And in His arms of love we know that Paradise is ours.
Lord, You are the Holy Place,
Filled with mercy, love and grace,
Take us, in Your strong embrace
Beyond our dreams of Eden.
